The people around here, the locals, are very nice. I think they’re a little mixed up though. The people who ride bicycles wear helmets, but the people who ride motorcycles do not. That was interesting. There are people riding segways (two wheel things) and they are wearing helmets. I did find a place that served orange soda. The Dairy Queen in Saint Paul has Fanta. That was nice. The area around the collapsed bridge is pretty much blocked off. There are a lot of bridges around here. I mean a lot. The river section here is rather small compared to the mighty St Lawrence, and it looks more like the Black River that flows into lake Ontario, or maybe the Oswego river. It gets a lot bigger as it moves on. It’s not a bad little city, very laid back and charming in it’s own way. The University of Minnesota is right there on the river, people are out jogging and riding their bikes. Everything just seems very nice and relaxed. There's no real reason to talk about the bridge disaster out here, other than to say it makes you think how precious your time on this earth really is. The news vans were down near the site, but I think the officials did a very good job of isolating the area from the general public so that they could get their work done. We went over some of the other bridges down there to get across the river a few times. It's pretty much the only method to get across.
