Everyone, well not everyone exactly, but I have a boss who I report to. He’s a bright guy with an IQ off the chart. He say’s we got to go to the Twin Cities, so we go. Now we’re here, we’ve done the job we came to do and now tomorrow we head home. As you all know I work for a power company. We spent the day at a generating station figuring stuff out, and we’ll go home and review what we saw, did, and need to do in the future. It’s the same way I approach hockey and lacrosse. There’s always someone who I report to. I do the job I’m entrusted to do, and then I review everything that happens, or needs to happen. That’s how you learn to be a little better prepared for your next game. If everything goes perfect you should still go over the game and make sure you understand why it went so well. If all goes south, then find out why. It may not jump right out at you the first time you review things, it may take a few reviews to really drill down to the critical pieces. That’s why I take notes, and research everything until I’m satisfied I got it figured out. There are some things that I may never understand why they happen, like weird puck bounces and fluke goals. Everything you do and learn you use to build upon. Hopefully you get a little smarter, a little wiser, and maybe a little luckier every day. Now back to the boss, who’s probably sick of me relating everything to a sport. He always tells me I’ll be back on the ice
in time for hockey, and I am. It’s not a bad deal if you can get it. How big is hockey with me? Guess. Of course, I have to score a lot of goals, so I skate fast and shoot around the goalies – so to speak. Everything you have done will influence everything you will do. It’s life, and it’s hockey, and it’s lacrosse.
