This past week we won four games, came in second place at a tournament, and gave the league leaders one heck of a reminder that this team plays hockey right up to the last tick on the game clock. We lost some players to injuries, and some players learned that they could step up when called upon to lead the team. We made some mistakes, but we also made some great plays. There's still a lot of games left in the season, and there's still a lot of hockey left in this team. When other teams thought we were down for the count we came back and sunk the puck deep in their net. As you've heard me say over and over; it's not weather we win or lose, it really is how we play the game. Most important is that we never quit, we never give up, and we play like a team. I'll always want to see more passing, better positioning, harder shots, and faster hockey. That's always out there to work on and improve. What I'm most impressed is how hard this team works together. That is something that is not only good for hockey, but good for life. You've proved that you can play against the best in the league, and you've proved you can win games. We've won, we've lost, and we've tied games. We've seen that we can score goals when we shoot on net, and we've seen that we are stronger when we play as a team rather than play as a group of individuals. I've got good coaches to work with who really care a lot about this team, and I've got a good team of hockey players that constantly remind me how great this sport is. Teamwork is important, but hockey also requires players to learn to have confidence in themselves. I'm seeing more of that at practice and on the ice. Real confidence is powerful, but it takes time to build that confidence. That's one of the reason we practice and work on skills. I like what I'm seeing, so keep up the good work. Years from now when these days are long past forgotten, wherever you go, whatever you do – you will always have a little hockey in your heart. That is a good thing.
