Let it rain

What is it you really need, and what is it that you really want? It took me a while to figure this out. You find with trial and error what you really need, but you really never know what you want until you realize you already had it. Family comes first to mind, not work, although you need to make a living somehow to support a family. Sometimes I forget this and get too wrapped up in work to realize I should enjoy my time away from the office. I stood at the shore with Tyler watching a storm start rolling in across the lake the other day. We could see the big thunderheads begin to block out the sun which had been shining brightly down on the lake. The sound of thunder was getting louder and the wind was picking up as we headed back to the house. I had just come back down from up north where Devin was playing a pickup game at the college. I had a lot of work I wanted to get done and I thought I'd work on it as soon as I got back home. I had only been working at my desk for about thirty minutes when a storm warning came across the radio. I came downstairs and told my wife about the warning. She let me know that Tyler was down at the shore fishing with some of the neighborhood kids. I headed out the door to call him in. I had to admit it was an impressive site to see those massive thunderheads drifting towards us. It had been raining on and off all week, Storms are nothing new, but I have to admit I do enjoy a good storm now and then. I figured work could wait and I could take some time and watch the storm from the house with Tyler. A little hockey, a little lacrosse, some snow in the winter, thunderstorms in the summer, and time with the family. What else do you need, except maybe some orange soda every once in a while.
