Spring Snow

I woke up to a winter wonderland at the lake. The snow was about two inches deep, but was heavy and wet just like lake effect snow often is. It was still coming down as I left the house to drive into the city. It was just getting light out, but the snow was making the drive a hazard for most commuters because of the slop getting kicked up off the road onto windshields, and the slippery road. I passed a couple empty cars in the meridian that had slid off the road. Still traffic continued on its 70 mile an hour daily gamble. All the trees, communication cables and power lines were sagging under the weight of the wet snow. It looks nice, but I don’t think it will last long. There were emergency lights flashing and sirens going off up ahead of me. The radio was listing school delays in the area. I had to pull over to get out of the way of a fire truck as I got off the exit and onto one of the secondary roads closer to the office. Well maybe Spring will get here eventually, possibly by July. Who am I kidding, I love the snow, and I’ll be complaining about the heat in a few months just like I do every year. Boy, I’ll tell you what; this is good snowball making snow. That’s for sure. Maybe I should save a few for summer.
