Here I am sitting in front of the TV watching some knucklehead make turkey soup. Yuk, I think we’ve had enough turkey for one week. Chicken soup for a cold is pretty good idea, I think I’ll stick with Campbell’s. We won both our games this weekend at home, but there was a big difference between how we played each. The Saturday game had us flat footed while our goalie had to make 35 saves. This shouldn’t have been the case. We won the game, but we played in a fog. Maybe it was all the turkey from thanksgiving, but I think it was a lack of focus. We didn’t move, and we backed off from pressuring the puck. There was a lot of watching and not enough moving. Today’s game was much better. The whole team worked hard. We had to earn this game. There were some mistakes, but there was more intensity and the players moved a little faster. When we were down two players I had the three remaining players go on the attack instead of play defensively. Keep pushing forward to the last player. I wanted them to work for a goal, and the whole team needed to see this. No team should think they have an advantage on us when we are down a player. They should see that we are just as dangerous… if not more so. I wanted this year to focus on speed and pressure. It will be rocky road, but worth it in the end. If everyone works together we will continue to do great things. Wins are nice, but I’m looking for great hockey. That’s the goal, not turkey soup. When you put that jersey on before every game, remember you’re part of a great team. That’s how we should continue to play ……like a great Team.
