My oldest was down for the weekend to visit. It was a good thing he was home. My youngest was down at the beach for a birthday party, and my wife and I were taking my middle son out to buy some hockey gear. I ended up dropping my wife of at an auction to see her parents while Nic and I stopped over to the rink to watch a little varsity hockey. I walk out to the parking lot to go pick up the wife and find the truck with a flat. Beautiful, but not a big deal, I’ll just get the spare out from under the truck and change the tire. The spare is supposed to release as I crank the holding cable loose. The cable comes down, but the tire doesn’t. Well, there’s a secondary release that’s holding it, but it won’t release. Great, I’ll call the wife on her cell phone and tell her we’ll be a little late. Ring. Ring. “”I’m not here right now etc. etc.” I find out later her phone was back at the house. I call my oldest. He picks up my youngest, while Nic runs down the street to get my wife at the auction. Everyone shows up at the rink while the tow truck guy is fighting with my spare tire. It still will not release. Now I get a tow, my son drives everyone but me to the dealership. I ride in the tow truck. “These spare tire under the truck deals are no good in this part of the country” he informs me. Apparently this is a common thing for my American made truck. That’s wonderful, but I’m not getting too upset yet. We grab the hockey gear out of the truck and head home. When Dev showed up at the rink he tossed me a cold bottle of orange sports drink. It was hot, and the cold orange drink hit the spot. He had picked up cold bottles of water for the boys and my wife. What a good son. This was a pretty good day after all. Before the tow truck driver left he advised me to upgrade to premium service if I was going to keep the truck. I thought this was.
