Oh how I wish it would snow. I am a big fan of fall and winter – up to December 31st. Then I am usually ready for spring. Summer is fun for about two weeks. Then the humidity losses it’s appeal. I don’t mind the rain at night, but not during the day. So I learn to deal with what I cannot control. I could move, but where to? The rink is nice temperature. I can escape the blinding sun for a few hours and enjoy the sodium light lit ice surface. My wife loves the summer sun. She would rather go to the beach along the southern shore. “No, no, we need to have snow” Seeing people wearing flip-flops at Christmas time seems kind of weird to me. I can’t imagine roasting all day, and all year, however I think we can come to a compromise. She also likes to go skating, so we need to have a rink nearby. I like the temperature below 65’, so I crank the AC to the max. She can lay out in the sun, while I watch broadcasts about life in the great white north and old classic NHL games. There’s something romantic about sitting in front of the fireplace on cold winter nights. It doesn’t have the same charm when you sit in front of the Air conditioner – or worse, the hot air blowing fan.
Of course no snow means no shoveling. That is a good point. I guess having seasons isn’t all that bad. If you see me sitting out in the snow in a lawn chair drinking coffee, you’ll know the temperature is just right. Of course after a few weeks of that I’ll be complaining about the cold……maybe.
