Cool air fills the night here off the lake. Perfect atmosphere for inspiring me to write. Sitting down at my old laptop is another story. I need to get back into a routine. I have an idea for a new project that I have been thinking about for the past few weeks. Of course it revolves around hockey. I usually like to sit down with a hot cup of tea and just chip away step by step. It becomes a constant battle between adding new words, and deleting lines in super critical frustration. I have many ways to procrastinate from actual writing. Usually I think I need a new laptop, or upgrade to a more current word processing program. I know these distractions are just that, distractions, but they are easy to fall into. Even though I have a smaller more portable device to write on, I still like a screen I can display a complete page’s worth of work. I work with some of the most advanced software and computer systems in the world, yet I come home and peck away on an old under powered laptop. It’s not the machine; it’s the guy using it. It’s true sometimes, but not always. I still use a lot of old technology such as books, pencils, and paper. Spell check and a dictionary come in very handy when proof reading what I often delete anyhow. Who wants to read about a hockey team from “Orange Dam” any way? Well, actually I do.
