Hockey Coffee

Big white puffy clouds glide across the sky in the picture perfect backdrop of western NY. It’s a big sky and an impressive one at that. It’s a beautiful part of New York that has true Americana. Small towns with beautiful old homes, friendly folks, and yes… I found a Tim Horton’s. I think I was in the town of Albion on Main St. immediately my brain clicks: “Hockey Coffee!” yeah! It doesn’t matter where I am. If I see a Tim Horton’s or a Canadian Tire – I think: “Sharpen my skates, and have some coffee” I really start to miss walking the main street of Kingston, and hockey games in Brockville. My buddy Ted and I used to stop into a Tim Horton’s when we were in college and buy coffee when we were in Kingston. My wife and I used to stop in at the river coffee shop when we took the ferry over from Wolfe Island. Going to Kinston was sort of our vacation trip when we were first starting out. When the boys were playing in Canada we’d make a point of stopping in for some donuts – sometimes coming home late down the 401. Last year during my youngest son’s hockey tournament we found a T.H outside Buffalo…we had to stop in. I took my oldest son out to a Starbucks for coffee last spring a few times, and now there’s one near his apartment where he’s living during college. I just can’t get used to that place. I just want a cup of coffee and a maple glaze. Well, I guess there’s always Dunkin Donuts.
