Orange victory ending to a great Orange season

The season ended in style. It was the Orange against the Green – with St Patrick’s Day only a few days away it actually looked pretty cool watching the two teams face off and battle for the puck. It was a very good game and a very fast game – as all of the games were this weekend. We had lost our first game, but played very well. Sometimes the puck bounces that way. It was a fast game, and the Orange played very well. We won the next two games, and we ended up taking second place in our division. It was a great way to end the season. It will take me a few weeks to decompress after this season. What a great team, and what a great bunch of hockey players to work with. I know I lead a charmed life because I always get such great teams to work with, but this team was really something special. Everything we set out to do at the beginning of the season we accomplished – and more. It was really wild Saturday night when Matt brought his guitar down to the pizza party we were having for the team at the hotel and started playing “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd – That was the song that kicked off the season for me on Monday August 10th as a thunderstorm began to hit the area while I was out in the shed looking at some old hockey sticks. (Rise and Fall). I just thought it was an appropriate tune to end the season. Thanks Matt – you’re a very good guitar player with good taste in music. Well that’s really what it’s all about anyways for me. I am just a simple man who has the great fortune to coach some great kids the greatest game in the world. It’s all about the love of the game. I believe the future holds great promise for each player on the team. It was an honor to coach you guys – I wish you all the best, and I will never forget the “Mighty Orange of Midstate.” ………Never!
