The winds came down from the north and the lake has begun to freeze over. This week was cold, but we turned up the wick at practice and worked as a team to correct some of the issues we faced last weekend. Practices were focused on skating, passing, and working together as a team on the cold and dim lit practice rink. When you see something that isn’t working you have to address it head on and work to fix it. We spent a lot of time working to correct some of the problems we saw last week. Today it showed. It was a big win for us and an exciting game – although we spent a lot of time killing penalties ……..very successfully I might add. The big issue for some of our rookie players has been hesitating and not going after the puck. That was a different story today, because we controlled the puck most of the game. Teamwork is an impressive strength and we saw that when we all work together we can do great things. It also makes the win much more satisfying knowing that everyone contributed their best effort. The team continues to break new ground and improve. We have some tough games coming up, and we may be playing even more short handed than usual, but if we stick to our game then I think we will continue to grow as a team. Christmas is coming, and soon it will be a brand new year. We are just about half way through our season, and I am very pleased at how far we have come already, but we still have a lot of hockey, and a lot of opportunity to continue becoming a great team – a great team made up of great players.
