When the first half of your team’s practice is taken up by each player skating around the rink holding the Eastern Division trophy, you realize it’s not such a bad way to get warmed up. At the beginning of the season I told the team that we would work and train like a championship team. The goal was to play smart, and to play well. Winning would be second to playing well, and improving one step at a time. Teamwork and effort would be our key to success. If you want something that’s any good, then you’re going to have to work for it. The team did, and tonight they brought out our trophy for first place onto the ice. It has been an interesting season, and I have been pleased by the effort and heart this team put into their game. Winning first place doesn’t make you a champion, playing like a champion makes you one. From the first face off to the final buzzer, each moment must be played with the heart of a champion. To me every hockey player that puts in effort and heart is a champion. Often, with a little practice things tend to work out if you believe in yourself, your team, and try. You’ll be surprised what you can accomplish when you’re a hockey player. This team is loaded with champion hockey players. I am sure there will still be more challenges for each player to face, and some you may win and some you may lose, but I am sure that each player from this team will be a positive contributor to whatever team they play for next season. We still have a few more extra games before the regular season comes to an end. I don’t expect that they will be a “walk in the park”, but I know we’ll play like champions. Congratulations Team!
