Well I decided to go back into the office today after taking two days off to spend time with the family. I figured it would be a good idea to take care of some work before the long weekend. Tomorrow I should be drinking my coffee down at “skate and shoot” while the boys play pickup. I’ve been bummed out with the last couple of Mets games against Philadelphia. I did get time to catch a few. Normally this time of year I head over to the State Fair, but not this summer. We’ve got too much going on with hockey, Dev starting college, the boys’ getting ready for school, work, and other stuff I can’t even think of right now. Sitting down to catch a Mets game with my youngest son is somewhat of a luxury. I should be down catching the SU football game at the dome, but I think I’ll catch up on a little prep work for hockey. Yes that’s right, I’m not just a fan of hockey and lacrosse. Baseball, that great American pass time usually plays across my radio on rainy nights, and on my TV as long as it’s the Mets. All sports, at least all regular sports out of the Eastern US I try to keep an eye on. Of course cable and satellite tv broadcasts make it a lot easier than it was years ago. When I bought my new TV my main concern was what hockey games would look like on it. Who cares about birds, trees, and rocks? I want to see the cuts in the ice. Remember this; you can learn a lot about one sport by picking up things from another. It’s all good. Don’t box yourself in by ignoring what’s going on in the rest of the world. Why do the Mets drive me crazy? I see a great club that can do great things, and that’s what I think I should be seeing. Often they do play great, but sometimes they start looking the New York Rangers of baseball.
