Boots and Bikes

Whatever happened to riding a bike? I don't see too many kids riding bikes anymore . Riding your bike was always part of summer. If you wanted to go somewhere you rode your bike there. If you couldn't , you didn't go. You found things to do in your bike riding boundary. You built up strength in your legs, and you were outdoors, not sitting home in front of a video screen. Now I see few middle age men wearing compression shorts and elongated toddler helmets. To me this is too bizarre . At least the skate borders have cooler looking helmets. If you're riding to stay in shape, what's up with all the aerodynamics? If I wanted to get a tough workout I'd ride a crappy old bike and wear boots with jeans and a flannel shirt. What I really don't like is a 40+ year old man dressed in compression pants standing behind me in the grocery store with no bike in sight. Let's get the bikes back to the kids, and put some decent clothes on. I used to ride my bike in the snow. I'll bet Ya don't see much of that anymore. Of course I am glad to see the Pogo stick has somewhat faded away. Maybe the guys in the biking outfits should switch to those. I have to stop writing now, there's a good game on TV. Get out there and get some fresh air. I gotta stay here and watch the game.
