These are the golden years

These are the golden years. For a young player out on the ice or the lacrosse field, this is the best time to be in the game. The time you spend playing minor hockey, club lacrosse, or any school sports is something you should enjoy and remember. It’s also a great time to be a player, coach or a parent. What I mean is that now is the time we want to make the most of. The future is on its way and hopefully we are well prepared for it, and the past is gone, but we still reflect on it and have hopefully spent the time well. Enjoy where you are now, at this moment in time. It goes by fast. When I walk into a rink for a game or practice I take a moment to try and take it all in. I see players grow up very fast. Sometimes I’ll run into a player I coached years ago, or a coach I worked with and I realize how fast the years go by. When you’re out there on the field, under the stadium lights, on the ice, or watching your son or daughter playing a game, remember these are the golden years. Don’t waste them. Make them good years. Whether you win or lose, you’re in the game. You are here, now. That’s pretty cool when you think about it.
