Day Light Savings Soda

2 am this Sunday we will be switching over to Day Light Savings Time. Some computer based systems need to be patched or updated to deal with this change in the clocks. The idea behind this early change was based on energy savings. Many early systems were unprepared for this change in our normal DST schedule. Most likely calendars and some logging programs may be affected. Some reports by the media have likened this to a mini Y2K event – where massive computer system failures were predicted, but did not impact the world as was feared. In any case it would still be reasonable to have extra orange soda on hand. Other than that I think we will be ok.
It always good to be prepared, but panic is not advised. I do not panic unless I am out of orange soda. After watching a fine All-star game in which three of our players participated – quite an excellent display I might add. – I traveled to the nearest “KFC”. After placing my order I was shocked to find that there was absolutely no orange soda available. Luckily we were only an hour from home. At the All-star game I was able to watch as a fan from the stands. It is very cold in the stands. I was not prepared for this. Parents must really love watching hockey to bear such extreme inhospitable conditions.
It has long been a guarded secret that there is no temperature on the bench. None that I can detect. I don’t really notice if it is cold unless we are in the northern reaches of the St Lawrence. Anyways, the game emphasized my theory that a good hockey player can play with any team if they play smart, work hard, and know the game. Hopefully everyone gets on the same page. This will come in handy as players transition from team to team and through any team tryouts. Like I said it is always good to be prepared. You never know whom you will be playing with or against as you move on down the ice. I also picked up a new hoody – just in case I find myself noticing the temperature again.
