Don Cherry and Tim Horton

As this Blog grows I hope that I will hear from many of you about what is going on in your area for lacrosse and hockey. From Mites to the pros it would be nice to know what everyone is up to for practices, games, anything related to both sports would be of interest to all that view this blog. What is it about these sports that keeps you interested and/or participating as a fan, player, parent, team manager, or coach? I'm sure my opinions will not be shared by all. For instance, I'm a big Don Cherry fan. I grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada on the CBC. As soon as I cross the border I grab a cup of coffee at Tim Horton's then head straight to Canadian Tire to check out wooden hockey sticks. I live a bit farther from the boarder now, and the team I coach travels the NY thruway as opposed to the days of running up and down the 401. I went from a steady diet of Leaf game broadcasts to watching hockey without Canadian accents. I'm getting by, but I do miss coaches corner. I tuned in every Saturday night when I could mostly to see what he was going do and say. When he coached Boston I was just a kid. Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito were my heroes. He is a big part of hockey to me, and I love listening to him go back and forth with Ron Maclean. I always get into trouble when I mention Grapes to the wrong people. I don't care, I give a big thumbs up, a wink and smile.
